Wednesdays, May 10, 17, 24, and 31 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Class Descriptions:
​
May 10: Opening "Weak Two Bids" and Preemptive "three bids"
How do you know when you should open these? How many points should you have? What type of suit whould you promise? How many cards must you have in the suit to open these bids? What do they mean? I will also discuss responding to "Weak Two Bids. How does partner know when you have a game or what to do?​

May 17: Opening Strong "Two Club Bids"
What type of hand should you have to open a strond "two club" hand? How many bids does the responder "owe" their partner? I will show you three different appoaches to choose from when responding to your partner's "two club" opening bid. How can you tell when you have a game or a slam.​

May 24: Slam Bidding - Gerber and Blackwood
I will go over how to ask for Aces using the "Gerber" convention over No Trump as well as how to ask for Aces (in a Suit). I will thoroughly describe "Roman Key Card Blackwood", 0314 and 1430 responses. These are slam bidding conventions.​

May 31: Defensive Carding
I will discuss how to show partner how much you like their opening lead. This is call "attitude". I will discuss "Standard" carding, "upside Down" carding and "odd-Even" carding. I will also discuss how to give your partner "count" of your suit as well as how to show your partner what suit you want them to lead by the card you discard when you can't follow suit. I will also cover "lavinthal" discarding.

Cost and how to pay:
The cost is $40 per class but if you sign up for three classes, you get the fourth one free. All four classes would be $120. If you are interested injust one or two of these classes, you may sign up for $40 per class. Pre-registration is required. Just let me know whether you are signing up for all four classes. If you send me a check, please send me an email letting me know that the check's in the mail.

Do I need a partner??
You do not need a partner to register for these classes and you may register for one or more of these classes. Please let me know which classes you would like to attend.

What can I expect?
You will receive instruction the first hour of class, then practice bidding and playing hands in the next two hours. Following each hand we will have a short discussion of how the hand should be bid and played. We will also discuss opening leads as well as defensive play when appropriate. You receive handouts at each class.
​
Please feel free to spread the word to any of your "social" bridge player friends. You don't have to play duplicate to learn from these bridge lessons. These are great lessons for the beginner as well as the intermediate bride player.
